Andrew William Roberts was born on June 23, 1925. After some time in the army, he settled down with his wife, Virginia, and began teaching history. He loved his job, but retired the day his first granddaughter was born. He never thought he’d love any job as much as teaching, but being a grandpa was by far his favorite.
Andy had an ongoing battle with basal cell carcinoma. In 2010, Andy was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He fought and beat it, but it returned with vengeance. He passed away on March 7th, 2014. Andy was a devote believer in Jesus Christ, loving husband, wonderful father and an irreplaceable grandfather. His strength was unending, his faith unwavering and his love unconditional. His mischievous smile is missed by many.
On behalf of his wife, Virginia, children, Patti, Derek, Jim, Nina and Lisa, and grandchildren, Casey, Rick, TJ, Matt, Holly, Jordan, JD and Ciara, it is truly an honor to have The Texas Trio Classic recognize Andy. He would be deeply humbled.
